Unless you have decorated a retro bedroom before, or have plenty of experience as an interior decorator, you may have problems designing the perfect retro bedroom decor for your home. Step #1) Wall Paint – When it comes to the wall paint that you choose for your design, you want to make sure that you pull colors straight out of the 1960’s. Colors such as purples, reds, and bright greens are essential for your wall paint. If you need more ideas, consider checking out some art from the 60’s and take colors straight from the art print itself.
Step #2) Flooring – Flooring used in a retro bedroom decor does not have to be outrageously wild. In fact, most floors from the 60’s and 70’s were built using solid colors. The accessories that you can add onto the floor, such as rugs and carpets should be made from crocheted fabric, with tassles on the ends to give it the extra flare the 60’s and 70’s are known for.
Step #3) Furniture – Your furniture, on the other hand, can be as wild as you like. Designs such as modern, and futuristic are perfect in a retro bedroom. Metal furniture easily finds a home in these types of bedroom designs. An old white bedroom vanity also works, as it is a classic, but also is a throwback from another era.
Step #4) Accessories – Much in the same fashion that your floors should be a solid color, you’ll also want to make sure that your window treatments contain the same colors, or even contrasting solid colors. For other accessories, you can consider adding in 8-track players, and custom records from some of your favorite artists.
