More Retro Bedroom Furniture Design Ideas

We’ve already outlined the basics that you are going to need for your retro bedroom design in a previous article. Now that you know where to begin, you should have a solid foundation that looks, and feels like it is fresh out of the retro era. However, for the finer details outside of an antique sideboard and other retro furniture, you are going to want to think about a few more ideas that we have put together for you, listed below. These ideas will help complete the look, and feel of your decor, and help you kick back in your favorite room.

Shag Carpeting – Shag carpeting is the mecca of a retro bedroom decor. The large fibers provide a comfortable place to walk, and lay down when you choose to get down onto the floor. These carpets come in a wide variety of designs, so your options are truly unlimited in terms of the size, shape, colors, and styles that you can purchase.

Peace, Love, Joy Bedding – When it comes to choosing your bedding, the most common type that you are going to want to try to find is a set that exhibits peace, love, and joy. The 1960’s and 1970’s were known for the hippie movement, and their favorite quote was “Spreading Peace, Joy, and Love”. It goes without saying that your room should encompass these types of feelings.

Tie Dye Curtains – The window treatments are an often overlooked part of the retro bedroom. For your curtains, you can either choose to make them yourself, or purchase curtains that are already tie dyed. There are quite a few tutorials on the internet for creating your own tie dyed curtains that you will want to look at if you choose the do-it-yourself route.

Retro Posters – Completing the walls is probably the easiest part of decorating a retro styled bedroom. You can pick up posters from some of your favorite arists from the period, and hang them around the room to help complete the feeling that you are going for.

Disco Ball – When it comes time to shut off the lights, nothing says retro more than a disco ball. As light is reflected off of the ball, your walls, bedding, floors, and window treatments will glow as if they are straight out of a disco dance.
